People Profiles Are Unreliable at Scale

A lot of AEs / BDRs / SDRs are changing their LinkedIn titles to
GTM / Growth @ XYZ
I wonder if this is due to connection success rate being high when GTM / Growth is in the title - as the connection request just shows the title.
But it's usually clear once you scroll down the profile to find what truly the title is
(and sometimes - it's not even there - you have to make smart inferences from their previous experiences are to figure out what they do)
This caused a bunch of problems with our search - the most accurately indexed part of the profile is the title & it gets tricky to find accurate information when the titles are all the same.
But this is part of a larger pattern we've seen with people profiles being unreliable sources of information at scale.
Example -
People update joining dates many months after they've joined
Tech stack and skills which can be mistaken for company tech stack
"Building @ xyz" being the only title across the entire company
What’s something weird you’ve noticed in people profiles?
